Aiming at the situation that the power factor of users will decrease greatly when the users are in a low load condition, the existing calculation methods of reactive compensation and its working condition of low load are analyzed. A new method based on the design of stepped compensating capacities and the reasonable on - off instrument is proposed,the control logic and the functions required by the intelligent on - off control equipment are discussed,which can keep the power factor in a higher level when the users are in a low load condition.
